Sun: preparing your skin to the natural

The holidays are approaching, the thermometer goes up ... It's the perfect moment to prepare your skin for the sun. But at a time when the solar capsules invade the rays, a detour through the pharmacy is far from essential. Because there are natural solutions to take care of your skin and get a nice tan safely. Here are the good gestures and bio tips of the naturopath Cécile Gautier-Weberspiel.

Fatigue, stress, poor eating habits ... As the summer approaches, our complexion is often cloudy, our skin tired. So what could be more natural than dreaming of golden legs, a radiant face covered with caramel cheekbones? But no question of damaging our skin or taking any risk for our health. UV sessions or self-tanning, for what care then opt for a few weeks vacation?

Neither of them, experts say that it is impossible to strengthen our skin as the summer approaches. In a nutshell: neither UV in booths nor self-tanners can prepare your skin for tanning. But it is possible to take care of it naturally, to obtain a harmonious and durable tan. And that, safely!

Getting ready for tanning ... from the inside

First step to prepare your skin naturally in fine weather: take care of the contents of our plate! Food is the best way to give our body something to nourish our skin. The menu recommended by the naturopath Cécile Gautier-Weberspiel? "Raw carrots and sweet steamed, tomatoes with their skin (organic, so preferably), fresh fruits (melons, apricots, yellow peaches), vegetables green and red (peppers), to be consumed regularly during a good month before the exposure. " Without forgetting to change a few small habits: "Drink more still water and consume raw cold-pressed olive oil of good quality".

And dietary supplements? Omnipresent in the rays, the solar capsules are not, for the naturopath, indispensable, even if they can - under certain conditions - give a boost. "You can take beta-carotene or licopene capsules (that it is found naturally in the tomato.) Beware, smokers and ex-smokers abstain! Some studies, in fact, have shown a link between taking beta-carotene and certain cancers in smokers.

Taking care of your skin up

One month before the first exposure, place to a special summer beauty program. First reflex: moisturize our skin more (for example by adding a moisturizing serum under our traditional cream) and make gentle scrubs, once or twice a week.But ideally, advises even Cécile Gautier-Weberspiel, remains "a hammam, with a scrub with black soap, two to three days before the first exposure".

His best natural trick? Carrot essential oil, perfect to give our skin a boost, without resorting to a commercial self-tanner. "One month before the holidays, add 5 drops of carrot essential oil ( daucus carota ) in your milk or moisturizing body oil and a drop in your face cream, which prepares the skin for tanning, enhances it and immediately gives it a shine. " Be careful however, the essential oil of carrot is contraindicated in case of hypertension.

For the greediest, this tip comes in a more fruity version, with apricot vegetable oil. "It has the same effects, but it is colorful and stain!" Warns the naturopath. "Add 3 to 5 drops to your usual cream as previously described and use it on the face, neck, décolleté, hands and arms."
